According to Timoroman.com, three Indonesian State owned companies, PT
Waskita Karya, PT Hutama Karya and PT Adhikarya won international bidding for
major infrastructure project, worth of US$93,510 million, in Timor-Leste’s
Special Economic Zone (ZEESM) of Oecusse.
On 5 November 2014, Timor-Leste government and the Oecusse Regional Authority
launched the first major road and bridge projects from Sacato to Pante Makasar
and from the region’s center to Tono region.
“The
Implementation of the three projects is the starting point of the
infrastructure projects for the special zone for social market economy (ZEESM)”,
said Minister for Public Works, Gastão de Sousa, as reported by ANTARA News.
Minister
De Sousa was accompanied by the President of the Regional Authority of Oecusse,
Dr Mari Alkatiri during the laying of the first stone for the construction of
the Oecusse mega project on Wednesday (5/11/2014).
Timor-Leste
also contracted a Portuguese consultant, Dalan Consultant and TECPROENG, to be
supervisor for the project.
“Developing
road and the bridge are very important because ZEESM is a strategic decision
that benefits Timor-Leste in expanding its interests in the region and the Asia
Pacific”, de Sousa added.
PT
Waskita Karya (Persero) is assigned to construct the road from Sakoto at the
border of Indonesian and Timor-Leste to Lifau that is worth of US$41.272.263,
and PT Hutama Karya (Persero) to construct the road from Pante Makasar-Pasar to
Tono that is worth of US$35.020.300, as well as PT Adhikarya (Persero) which
will construct Tono Bridge project (Oecusse)
that is valued at US$17.218.000.
The
Timor-Leste Public Ministry held an international biding for the projects that
included 19 international construction companies from various countries.
